Welcome to SLO!!
Our college age/young-adult group, Wesley Fellowship, meets weekly in the Wesley Fellowship Hall for activities and a home-cooked dinner. Meetings start at 6pm and go until about 8pm each Sunday evening. Activities include Bible and book studies, service to the greater SLO community, “Hot Topic” discussions raise awareness about difficult issues students select, and game nights. Once a quarter we leave San Luis Obispo to experience God’s presence in another way. For example, this Fall we went hiking and camping (rain & shine!) north of Gilroy, and played in the snow while skiing/boarding at Sierra Summit in January. Our Spring Break ‘08 Trip will be to New Orleans to continue helping repair Katrina damage. New students are always welcome and we’d love for you to make SLOUMC your local church home. retreat this weekend

 

Here's the registration form for our crew to fill out.  $25 checks can be made out to Wesley Foundation.  Wesley will kick in the $10 + our contribution for the weekend's amount.  I also packe a big bag of snacks for us to share.  If y'all have any great games, tuck them in too.  See you tomorrow night.  Dave has oral surgery in the am, so keep him in your thoughts:)

  • Feb. 6-8, 2009 - Life and Faith Retreat, Cambria Life and Faith Retreat:
  • WHAT: A weekend retreat that invites students into thoughtful, interactive, reflective engagement to discover how to merge their spiritual life with their career path 
  • WHO: Cal Poly and Cuesta students. Groups organizing the retreat include Lutheran Campus Ministry, Canterbury Episcopal Ministry, Progressive Christian Campus Outreach, and the United Methodist college group 
  • WHEN: February 6-8, 2009 from 4:00pm Friday and returning to SLO 12:00 noon Sunday 
  • WHERE: Camp Ocean Pines in Cambria overlooking the ocean (see www.campoceanpines.org). We'll meet at the Lutheran Campus Ministry House (1701 Fredericks Street) to carpool at 4:00pm on Feb. 6.
  • SPEAKERS: Rev. Nicole Naffaa and Rev. Laurie Adams from Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley
  • COST: Each student is asked to pay $35.00 for the weekend which includes 2 nights lodging and 5 meals (the University Christian Community endowment is paying the rest of the $105 cost)
  • REGISTRATION: Fill out the form below and turn in to your campus minister no later than Tuesday, January 27 (firm deadline) with $35.00 (make checks out to University Christian Community). More info on what to bring, etc. will come after that date
