In 2004, the National
Plasterers Council was
invited to construct a
research center on Cal
Poly’s Campus
in collaboration with manufacturers,
distributors and
suppliers who donated
Over $850,000 in cash
and materials.
The
research center is an
ongoing collaborative
project with UPA, IPSSA,
APSP, and NPC.
Researchers at the center applied
to the University for
the center to become a
official department of
the College of
Engineering at Cal
Poly.
The University
overwhelmingly welcomed
the new research center
in
the Spring of 2005.
Cal
Poly’s President stated
that
“this
partnership is a
model of
how industry and
academia should work
together to gain
knowledge and better
society as a whole.”
